Foster Care Fortnight 2018

For the next two weeks foster carers across the nation will be celebrated as part of a national campaign, Foster Care Fortnight.

Foster Care Fortnight is a national campaign organised by The Fostering Network to raise the profile of foster carers and saying a huge thank you to them for all of the work they do, bringing up children and young people who need it most.

This year, the theme of the campaign is around being proud to support fostering. DSCB is proud to support the foster carers in Doncaster and recognises that carers give children and young people a stable, loving, family home. They go above and beyond and take their role as ‘corporate parents’ incredibly seriously.

DSCB would like to take this opportunity to celebrate some of the achievements of foster carers and their families in Doncaster. Some of them are award winning, Mockingbird scooping Team of the Year at this year’s Star Awards at DCST, some foster carers have been awarded honours by Her Majesty the Queen, Ian Lindley received an MBE in 2017 and one foster carer whisked off to Florida by Ant and Dec as a thank you for her hard work.

But this fortnight isn’t about celebrating just a few, it is about sharing the stories of all of foster carers and how they make a difference, no matter how seemingly small.

DSCB would love it if you would help us share their stories; please encourage foster carers to share on Facebook and Twitter why they are proud to foster and proud to be a part of Trust Fostering, or if you know a carer who has made a huge impact, share their story and why you are proud of them – share it with us on Facebook or by Twitter.

And don’t forget, if there is anyone who you think would make a great foster carer please put them in touch with the Trusts friendly fostering team. Call them on 0808 129 2600 or get them to visit the website: www.trustfostering.co.uk to find out more.
