Welcome to the Doncaster Safeguarding Children Board (DSCB) website. The DSCB is a statutory body which is independently chaired and consists of senior representatives of all partner agencies and organisations working together to safeguard children and young people in Doncaster.

Safer Sleep Week 2018

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden and unexpected death of a baby where no cause has been found. The DSCB are supporting the Safer Sleep Week Campaign 12th March-18th March by raising awareness of SIDS through our social media platforms. We hope to raise awareness to any young or new parents of the risks of SIDS and how to reduce it.  Our Independent Chair John Woodhouse said, "Small babies are very vulnerable. The prevention of Cot Deaths is important to us all. The safest place for your baby to sleep for the first 6 months is in a separate cot or Moses basket in the same room as you, with the baby placed on her / his back. The Lullaby Trust has lots of useful information on their website and I encourage parents to visit it.

For more information about SIDS follow our Twitter, Facebook Page or visit the Lullaby Trust's Website

What is the Doncaster Safeguarding Children Board?

The Children Act 2004 requires each local authority to establish a Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB). The core objectives of the LSCB are to:

  • To coordinate what is done by each person or body represented on the Board for the purposes of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in the area; and
  • To ensure the effectiveness of what is done by each such person or body for those purposes
